Outrageous! Dodgers’ Blasphemous ‘Drag Nuns’ Event Sparks Catholic Prayers

Conservative believers in Los Angeles are expressing their peaceful opposition to an upcoming event at Dodgers Stadium that intends to honor a group known as the “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.” Archbishop José H. Gomez of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles has invited Catholics in the area to attend a Mass on the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, as part of a day of prayer. The Archdiocese issued a statement expressing concern over the decision to honor a group that mocks Catholic religious sisters and stages lewd performances aimed at ridiculing Jesus and the Catholic Mass.

On the same day, the Los Angeles Dodgers are scheduled to celebrate their annual “Pride Night” by honoring the “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.” Archbishop Gomez tweeted about the feast of Jesus’ Sacred Heart and invited people to join him in a special Mass at the archdiocese’s cathedral. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles is the largest Catholic archdiocese in the United States.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) issued a statement urging Catholics to pray the Litany of the Sacred Heart as an act of reparation. The bishops emphasized the importance of recognizing Christ’s love for humanity during the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. They condemned the decision to honor a group that engages in lewd and blasphemous behavior, stating that it is offensive, painful, and amounts to blasphemy.

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, an organization featuring performers in drag dressed as nuns, are being recognized by the Los Angeles Dodgers for their charitable work within the LGBTQ+ community. While the group claims to raise funds for various charities, it is known for its irreverent and mocking approach towards religious symbols and beliefs.

In response to the Dodgers’ decision, the CatholicVote organization, which initiated the initial protests, has planned a demonstration outside Dodger Stadium on the day of the event. The demonstration aims to peacefully express opposition to what they perceive as anti-Christian bigotry. Bishop Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas, will lead the procession during the event, which will feature speakers, prayers, and worship.

Conservative Catholics in California are encouraged to participate in the peaceful demonstration to show their opposition to the award given by the Dodgers. The CatholicVote organization believes it is essential for the Dodgers to witness the hurt caused by this decision and hopes to respond with love and peaceful protest.
