Mega Viral Controversy: ‘What Is A Woman?’ Breaks Records

The Daily Wire’s documentary “What Is A Woman?” achieved remarkable success and overcame social media censorship during its Twitter premiere. Since its release on the first day of Pride Month, the tweet featuring the 90-minute film, in which Daily Wire host Matt Walsh asks critical questions about gender ideology, has garnered over 170 million views, making it one of the most successful documentaries of all time. This viewership surpasses significant events such as the final episode of “Game of Thrones” and President Joe Biden’s recent State of the Union address.

Initially, the milestone seemed unattainable due to Twitter’s labeling of the documentary as “hateful conduct” and restricting its visibility, citing instances of “misgendering.” However, Twitter owner Elon Musk acknowledged the mistake and lifted the restrictions after a wave of backlash from users who questioned the platform’s commitment to free speech. Musk himself promoted the film by retweeting it and recommending it to parents, which resulted in increased visibility and engagement.

The Twitter saga surrounding “What Is A Woman?” gained significant attention both on the platform and in various media outlets worldwide, including The Daily Beast, Variety, NBC News, CNN, and National Review. The documentary’s success continued as it topped the “Most Popular” section of the “Best Movies at Home” list on Rotten Tomatoes for June, surpassing mainstream Hollywood films. Despite an apparent influx of one-star reviews from trolls, the film maintained a positive audience score of around 90%.

The documentary received praise from diverse backgrounds, even from those who may not have agreed with every aspect of it. Politician David Limbrick commended the film for raising important issues that need discussion, while Lila Rose, president of the pro-life group Live Action, hailed it as a must-watch with creativity, clarity, and courage. Comedian Rob Schneider and journalist Megyn Kelly also endorsed the film, emphasizing its significance, enlightenment, and bravery.

“What Is A Woman?” achieved exceptional success, defying social media censorship and capturing the attention of millions worldwide. Its thought-provoking content and the controversy surrounding it have sparked crucial conversations about gender ideology and the importance of free speech.
