Liberal CBS Host Stunned: 62% Back Deporting Illegal Immigrants!

CBS host Margaret Brennan seemed taken aback by a new poll indicating that a majority of registered voters support the deportation of all illegal immigrants in the U.S. This surprising finding underscores a growing frustration among Americans with the current immigration system.

On Sunday, Brennan discussed the poll results, noting that Homeland Security claims President Biden has deported or repatriated more people in the past year than any year since 2010. Despite this, the poll reveals strong support for more aggressive measures. “It doesn’t seem practical, in some sense, to round up children,” Brennan said, questioning the feasibility of such an effort. “And then we know that the courts have questioned whether local authorities would have the ability to do it, and federal authorities don’t have the resources. So what exactly do people think they’re supporting?”

The CBS News/YouGov poll found that 62% of registered voters would back a government program to deport all illegal immigrants. Conducted between June 5-7, the poll also showed that a majority of voters supported Biden’s recent executive action on the southern border. Anthony Salvanto, CBS’ director of elections and surveys, explained that while most support for deportation came from Trump supporters, there was notable backing from some Democrats as well. “When you measure public sentiment on this or really just about any policy, you’re getting a sense of direction. You’re getting broad brushstrokes,” Salvanto said.

Salvanto added that many respondents believe local authorities should assist in deportation efforts, although the specifics are often lost in broad public opinion surveys. “A lot of folks do say yes,” he noted. “We are in a different era in which a lot of folks say the system as a whole is not working.”

Brennan pointed out that Americans generally want the government to take decisive action. Trump has proposed using the National Guard to deport illegal immigrants and has vowed to conduct “the largest domestic deportation operation in American history.” Meanwhile, Biden’s recent executive actions aim to manage the flow of migrants more effectively at the southern border. His administration’s measures include temporarily suspending the entry of non-citizens across the border once daily encounters exceed 2,500 over a week, and maintaining this until encounters drop below 1,500 over seven days.

These developments highlight the ongoing debate over immigration policy and the divergent approaches proposed by leaders from both parties. The strong support for drastic measures reflects a deep-seated desire for solutions to what many Americans see as a broken system.
