It is well known that conservative voices are all but non-existent on most college campuses these days. Republican and conservative clubs are often ridiculed by other students and on the rare occasion when a conservative thought-leader is asked to speak on campus, he or she is met with boisterous violent protests.
What might come as a little more of a surprise, is that your kids are being indoctrinated with the “liberal agenda” long before they get to college.
Fortunately, my husband and I were lucky enough to attend public school in the days where the Pledge of Allegiance and the Lord’s Prayer started off every day and no one was offended. At that time, schools did what they were intended to do – provide students with an education.
Today, that’s all changed.
My own kid (now in high school) constantly tells me about teachers who, instead of teaching their supposed subject matter, prattle on about his or her left-leaning political views on guns, gays or Donald Trump. This has become so much of a given, that parents do not even complain about it.
But, the liberal/socialist agenda that has grabbed ahold of our educational system (if you can still call it that!) is far more problematical and insidious than the occasional political blathering of an anti-trump teacher.
Our schools no longer “educate,” because an educated populace is less easy to control. So, instead of teaching critical thinking, so that our kids can come through the system ready to lead, and take our country to new heights like the entrepreneurs and great minds of a generation ago – our kids are “taught” the rote answers to statewide standardized tests.
And why is that? No teacher I know likes this idea, but they say their hands are tied, because “merit” as measured by those tests, is tied to federal funding of public schools. You want those government dollars then you had better get that “A” rating. It’s no surprise that a system that is state-funded and state-run, advocates for a bigger government.
Public Schools Support the Socialist Agenda!
Now let’s take this a step further. We all know the word for a system that becomes dependent on a “big government” – socialism!
The current public school system is a mirror of the typical socialist system — bureaucratic, wasteful, and it does not serve its original and intended purpose. There was a time when education was the cornerstone of Western society. Our schools were a place where our youth were taught to think broadly and develop their own unique worldview. Instead, today, our kids — as young as in the elementary schools — are often taught what to believe and not how to think critically and form their own opinions.
The examples are everywhere. One mom recently took to social media to display her daughter’s “fill-in-the-blank” vocabulary quiz that sported questions such as, “It was difficult for me to [blank] my feeling when I learned that Donald J. Trump had been voted in as our 45th President” and “After reading about President Trump’s immigration ban, I did not realize how [blank] the law can be.”
These kinds of stories are becoming increasingly common. Yet, the focus that we on the right seem to have, is on how liberalism has taken over college campuses and conservative voices are being squashed at the university level, to the peril of our futures.
But, I put it to you that we must take up this fight much earlier. It is no wonder that liberalism and socialism is so strongly embraced by the time most kids have gotten to college (and are of voting age for the first time). It is because they have been weaned on a steady diet of socialist thought and revisionist history from K through 12!
How many websites, organizations, or network television, or talk-radio shows can you think of that are as dedicated to shedding light on these issues in middle schools and high schools, as they also reveal the liberal agenda that is obviously present on college campuses?
Not many, and it is time for that to change.
