Mackenzie Bezos: Winning In Divorce?

When Mackenzie Bezos’s divorce finalized, she was left with 36 Billion dollars and 25 percent of her Amazon stock — making her the 3rd wealthiest woman in the world.

While 36 Billion dollars may seem like a sizeable chunk of change, the numbers reveal how divorce often leaves one partner with the shorter end of the stick.

And statistically speaking, many women (and sometimes men) are blindsided by a divorce spawned by an affair and let things go for the sake of moving on – quickly.

In this case, Mackenzie was there from the beginning. When he built the Amazon empire, she helped with the accounting, shipping, and other duties.

She gave him four lovely children, and truthfully, it appears that she also sacrificed her career to support his vision.

And during the divorce, she also let the financial part of it go without a fight. Like many, she perhaps settled for less than what she helped to earn — causing a drastic change in lifestyle.

She was used to living in a marriage with an estate worth 137 Billion dollars. She did love him over the past 25 years. It’s also likely that she allowed Jeff to manage their finances while married, like many women do when legally coupled.

What’s interesting is how similar women are when it comes to their outlook on divorce, no matter how much money they have. Mackenzie follows the norm, it seems, even though she’s a billionaire.

In a recent study on women and divorce, 44 percent of women saw the change as an opportunity to reinvent themselves with the ultimate win as being their new life.

The newly single Ms. Bezos states, “I’m excited about my own plans. Grateful for the past as I look forward to what comes next.”

  1. Mackenzie, go out for drinks???

  2. Your remarks on the Bezos are the most extreme example of s–t disturbance I have ever seen. And I had thought so highly of you!

    • Hi Eugene, Thank you so much for letting me know how you feel. I love all feedback both positive and constructive. Can you elaborate more on what you mean so I can understand? Thank you!

  3. A pretty pathetic attempt to fill white space. As much as I detest Jeff Bezos for being a capitalist and whining about a great President who fully supports capitalism, Bezos was the driving force behind the concept and development of Amazon. So what if his ex-wife did accounting and helped with shipping. He could have hired people to do those things and when they left the company they would not have gotten over $30 billion. She is only entitled to what the court determined she is entitled to, nothing more, nothing less. And, by the way, it is also likely that she handled much of the money since she was doing the accounting.

    • Hi Al, I appreciate that. But it’s the mindset here that I’m referencing. I don’t mind that you shared your opinion, I value feedback in all forms. Thank you.
