There’s little doubt after witnessing what has transpired within the last few weeks, America is in the midst of a cultural civil war — more pervasive and more damaging than anything experienced within our lifetime.
This week another progressive Democrat introduced an abortion bill allowing for the “murder” of a baby up to the moment of birth, and beyond.
Virginia delegate, Kathy Tran introduced “House Bill 2491” allowing for the termination of a pregnancy up to 40 weeks old.
Ironically on the same day, Tran introduced another bill, however rather then violently terminating the life of a human infant, this bill seeks to protect cankerworms, which eventually become moths. Let that analogy sink in for a moment.
This lawmaker actually introduced two similar bills, both of which deal with the biological evolution of life. A baby grows to be an adult human, and a cankerworm evolves into a moth. One bill is intended to terminate life of a human-being while the other seeks to protect the life of a moth.
Tran’s “House Bill 2495” would prohibit spraying during certain months, in order to protect the biological evolution of the “fall cankerworm.”
While Tran’s “2491 Bill” seeks to repeal the state’s current restrictions on late-term abortions. If passed the bill would amend the state’s requirement that second and third-trimester abortions be performed only to preserve the health or life of the woman. Under current law, three physicians must certify that a late-term abortion is necessary to preserve the physical wellbeing of the mother.
The new legislation (if passed) eliminates those requirements and allows second and third-trimester abortions to be performed in other healthcare facilities, rather then mandated to a hospital.
According to The Republican Standard, “The bill would allow a doctor to perform an abortion when a woman is dilating, meaning she is about to give birth.”
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam as well as a number of Democratic lawmakers, on Monday, came out in favor of Tran’s abortion bill.
“This bill creates abortion, virtually on demand, up until the point of birth,” Family Foundation President Victoria Cobb said, condemning the proposal, the Standard reported. The group’s mission is to “empower families in Virginia by applying a biblical worldview and founding principles to culture and public policy.”
Perhaps even more stunning is the apparent competition among radical progressive legislators attempting to out debase themselves in creating morally egregious laws regarding the abortion issue. In New York Gov. Cuomo signed into law the so-called Reproduction Health Act, removing all protections for the unborn, even decriminalizing the state’s criminal code, which begs the question what if the expectant mother who wants her child is purposely assaulted by the father who doesn’t want the child, and the child dies? Is he criminally libel?
Perhaps the most egregious moment was listening to Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam attempting to explain the horrific law in a radio interview Wednesday morning.
“If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”
Northam publicly announced that “MURDER” was a viable option, there’s no other conclusion regarding his statement.
His comments immediately created a firestorm on social media, with the President being one of the first to weigh in.
“I’m surprised that he did that, I’ve met him a number of times,” Trump said, noting that he saw a video of Tran discussing the bill earlier that morning, but hadn’t yet heard Northam’s remarks.
“I thought it was terrible,” Trump said of Tran’s statements, adding, “Do you remember when I said Hillary Clinton was willing to rip the baby out of the womb? That’s what it is, that’s what they’re doing, it’s terrible.”
However perhaps the most pointed and emotional remark came from Nebraska Republican Sen. Ben Sasse, This is morally repugnant.”
Adding, “In just a few years pro-abortion zealots went from ‘safe, legal, and rare’ to ‘keep the newborns comfortable while the doctor debates infanticide,’” Sasse continued, according to The National Review. “I don’t care what party you’re from if you can’t say that it’s wrong to leave babies to die after birth, get the hell out of public office.”
