With congressional reports now having been released, there is an endless list of people that have been complicit in what has now been proven to be the U.S. government spying on Americans, and worse working as a political arm of the Democrat Party in an effort to thwart a presidential election. This is the kind of stuff you read about in a novel. Turns out, even Obama’s name has been reported as having had knowledge of what was going on in his FBI and DOJ. Not surprisingly, it would be naive to believe that a sitting President does not know or have hands on as to what his law enforcement agencies are involved in. After all, he was very much involved in every aspect of the Black Lives Matter movement and their attacks against police officers. He made sure that he sided with Harvard Professor Louis Gates against police officer, Sgt. James Crowley; he said Trayvon Martin could have been his son, then there was Ferguson let’s not forget that Eric Holder, then attorney general in Obama’s DOJ went out tend to the situation personally over the shooting of Michael Brown, a black 18 year old, by white police officer, Darren Wilson. All this messaging from a President on local issues he should not have involved himself in to begin with. But it was important for Obama to foment racial division in America. That was the point, to make as many people angry as possible. To reverse any headway Americans had made in the way of racial peace. To believe that intelligence communities spying on a Republican presidential candidate was not something Obama had his hands all over is akin to believing there are rainbow-colored unicorns.
Besides the harm to the electoral process, there is damage that is rarely seen or mentioned. That is the message that it is sending to our nation, the world and most importantly our kids, about the Rule of Law. My house is typically politically outspoken. We discuss current event with the kids, now 19-30 years old. My kids ask questions ranging from how minimum wage affects their finances and future, government healthcare, student loans and taxes. They are well-versed on what is happening in the world and especially in their country. Unfortunately, as they witness the decay of institutions they were taught were there to serve Americans, protect the rule of law and uphold the Constitution, they have become cynical and literally do not want to hear it anymore. I can’t say I blame them; I too have become a bit skeptical that any of what we are seeing in the news today will have any consequence on those breaking the law.
This morning my son and I were discussing the memos and FBI lovers texts coming out of DC, “seems Obama has also been involved in all this spying on Trump campaign and administration; I hope he and the rest of those crooks go to jail” I said, to which he responded, “nothing is going to happen to him; they aren’t going to haul in the first black president, Mom!” His tone gave me pause. What’s the point of following the Rule of Law, when some people get arrested and others don’t? How do you explain to your kids that obeying the law is the right thing to do even if elected officials are breaking the law almost daily.
These DC elites are blowing up the deficit, party affiliations be damned. Our kids watch as these elected or appointed officials are scandalized with reality tv-type dirt like spying, backroom deals, sexual assaults of interns and judges legislating from the bench, totally antithetical to the Constitution. The result is that they tune out the news and disconnect from engaging in government at all, except for whatever free college tuition programs, student loans, and any other goodies are offered to them to keep them dependent, and living with their parents until at least 26 years old.
This is a dangerous proposition, because they are the future of the country, and the next electorate who will be voting to usher in a government in direct opposition to the Constitution. Today’s universities and colleges are a huge problem in this regard. In order to get a good paying job, they need at least a four year post high school education, and of course with that comes a 4 year dose of indoctrination in the social justice book of lies, race, gender and identity politics, Christian bashing, Islam-mania tolerance, pussyhat wearing young women who walk around campuses with planned parenthood themed tank tops and lest not we forget the global warming fairytale brigades.
We must continue to speak to our kids about what is going on, inform them how they are affected personally by the government and find ways to get them engaged. Each kid is different, so as parents we have to know how to reach them. If we don’t tell them the truth, others will lie to them with impunity. Not many kids today are politically engaged, many have already tuned out. Let’s face it, for the most part they are tuned into Fifty Cent, JayZ, Eminem, Lil Wade and all those other angry young men, who glorify sexual assault, misogyny, violence, and F*** the Police mantra. How do we help our young people become engaged again in what’s really important? How do we have them tune out today’s culture vultures, and have them focus on being good Americans, patriotic, engaged, hard-working individuals who respect themselves and as well as others?
We can talk to them sure, til we are blue in the face even, but will they listen to us, when they see what we ourselves are seeing on the news every night? Some officials walking away from their crimes because of their name, or being the first this or that, or financial pedigrees and can get away with crimes none of us would be able to.
Will they believe our message, as we lead them to the light when they wander over to the darkness in today’s culture? I sure hope so.
